Hip replacement is a surgical procedure in which the hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant, that is, a hip prosthesis. Hip replacement surgery can be performed as a total replacement or a hemi replacement.
Robotic hip replacement is similar to a traditional hip replacement. The surgeon removes damaged tissue in your hip and replaces it with an artificial joint. The difference is that it's done with assistance from a robotic arm.
During surgery, a robotic arm guides the surgeon in preparing the hip socket for positioning the implant. Real-time images and information from the robotic system assist the surgeon with accurate implant placement.
