Children may develop scoliosis, kyphosis, or spondylolisthesis, three types of juvenile spine deformities. Kyphosis and scoliosis both involve an abnormal curvature of the spine. Spondylolisthesis is the term used to describe a misaligned vertebra. If your child has a spinal anomaly, you should get them checked out as soon as possible. Back problems are not limited to adults. Children's back discomfort may be brought on by pediatric spinal abnormalities. Common symptoms of a juvenile spinal deformity include lower back pain, "waddling" when walking, or the look of a "humpback". Children as young as six years old may experience a misaligned vertebra, often with no symptoms at all.Pediatric spinal anomalies may react better to treatment if discovered early in life. Many pediatric spinal abnormalities can be treated with bracing or physical therapy.
